Six Word Saturday

Buckeyes play today!  Hope they win

So, It has been 1 year since I have posted on this blog.  Not one year to the day, but one year to the event. OSU plays Michigan today!  I thought this would be a great day to post again!  Love my Buckeyes!

The Ohio State/Michigan rivalry is HUGE, and while the Buckeyes won last year, and I'm confident that they will beat them again, you just never know!  Michigan may just pull one off!   Eww, don't even want to think about that!

I'm linking up with Cate for Six Word Saturday today.  If you want to play along, simply describe your life right now in 6 words and then click the picture above to link up.

Have a great Saturday!

Weekend Round Up

Welp, it's time to get back to blogging.  I have ignored it for way too long.  When I started this blog I did so to keep out of town family informed on our lives, since we are all so spread out.  But I also like the fact that it is a diary of sorts.  When I look back at old posts it reminds me of so many fun times.  I realized that I need to get back to it, because I'm missing so much and I know, all to soon, I'll forget!

So on to the Weekend Round-up.....

My husband lost his job about a year ago, and after awhile, realized that he really didn't dig what he had been doing for the last 30+some years.  So at 57 years old, he went back to school.  Proof positive you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!  He is now driving truck and he really enjoys it.  I can't imagine sitting in a semi for 10-12 hours, but hey, to each his own.  He finished school 5 weeks ago and has been training with a company in Central Ohio.

Since he has been traveling a lot, we definitely like to spend the weekends together.  So when he asked me if I wanted to do some running around with him on Saturday, I happily agreed.  About 20 minutes later we pulled into a Pilot truck stop.  He had to get a CB radio and a few other things.    As soon as he told me he needed a CB, the song Convoy popped into my head.  I can't quit singing it.  Here he is practicing.....OK not really, just playin.

Pig Pen this here's the Rubber Duck

Speaking of the hubs, he has been riding/driving with a trainer for 5 weeks.  Today he was a free bird, on his own for the first time.  He was given a truck to drive....picture below...

OK not really, but it would be cool seeing this bad boy going down the road, don't you think?

On a more serious note, I'm very proud of him!  He is a great driver and seems to love it.  AND, I will tell ya, if you and your husband aren't getting along or he's getting on your nerves, send him out in a semi for a week....does wonders for the marriage!  Just sayin~

So after hearing about the issues the Hostess company is having, I thought I would treat myself to a Twinkie.  Yea right.....I found nothing but empty shelves where Twinkies and HoHo's had once lived.

Not a Twinkie to be found  :o(

One bad thing about a husband who travels a lot is that I feel like I should cook on the weekends.  Ugh...but it is better for both of us, and since we are both watching our weight I don't really mind.  This weekend's speciality was home made spaghetti and meatballs.  It was delish!

Sunday we laid around like slugs most of the day.  We did watch the Nascar race and both my guys won.....I'm a huge Jeff Gordon fan and he won!!  Just when my husband keeps telling me he is a "has been."  Keslowski actually won the chase.  I can't say I'm a big Blue Deuce fan, but I did NOT want to see Jimmy Johnson win AGAIN!

Back to the grindstone today but this week should be fun....
*  It is a short week at work
*  Tuesday, Travis comes home tomorrow from college
*  Wednesday I get to see some my family
*  Thursday I get to see more of the family and YUM....though we are not doing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Wishing all a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Welcome back ME!  It's been awhile since I have blogged so I thought, what better way to get back into it then with a fun meme.  I used to participate in this meme all the time but quit.  I don't know why because it was always a fun one and just the name suggests beach, sunshine, easy life, ahhhhh, all the things I love!

Anyway let me tell you a little bit about this meme...right from the source...

"In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.  Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."
So my question for today:

What do you think is the strangest sport included in the summer olympics?

I think there are a lot of unique sports that have made the cut....Badmitton, Ping Pong, Taekwondo???  But for me, the strangest sport I think it is TRAMPOLINING.  I LOVE IT, but I never realized it was considered an olympic sport.  The way they jump, twist, turn, flip, it's just amazing!

Another thing that has me quite perplexed are the equestrian events.  I have so many questions about this.  How do they transport their horses to the olympics?  Isn't it traumatic for the horses?

I'm sad the Olympics are almost over.  I enjoy them but feel obligated to watch them since I won't see them again for another 4 years.  I have converted my husband into an Olympic watcher.  He was completely uninterested at first but now he has them on every night.

Feel free to hop over to "An Island Life" to check out all of the Aloha Friday questions.

Have a great weekend!!

It was a Doggie Birthday Party!

So this is Booker

Tomorrow is his "Birthday." OK, tomorrow is not the anniversary of the day he was born, I don't know if anyone knows what that exact day is. But....it is the 1 year anniversary that he was adopted by my best friend Jenn.  Jenn and her husband Greg don't have children of the human kind....but they do have Booker!  He is a special dog that got adopted by some very special people!

This party had all the fixins of a bonafide birthday party, including party hats, cake (even a special doggie cake for him), and presents!!

He is such a great dog!  Can you even stand his cuteness??!!

Here is the proud mama!  She is holding the human cake, not the dog cake.

It was a neat excuse to get together with friends, eat some good food, drink some good drinks, and celebrate the joy this little guy brings to the lives of these 2 very loving people!

Disliking the Ohio Department of Taxation

Ugh....Just sayin.  If you can't find me it's because I'll be busy hunting down tax information from 2002.  Yes, you read that right....10 years ago.  Are we even required to keep tax stuff that long?
